💼 Business Reads
‘Private Banker’ Drama Explores the Secret World of Japan’s Ultra-Rich
Notes: Remember Carlos Ghosn? Much of his downfall stemmed from his rejection of Japanese and French cultural norms regarding CEO salary expectations. Understanding local culture, contexts, and norms is important for global business strategy (or at least this is how I will justify binging this drama). 😂
Why China’s Luxury Boom Is Over
Notes: Short video on the decline of the luxury goods market in China. I frequently cover luxury real estate, watches, Birkins, etc. This video is a good summary of what is happening.
Buy Canadian 🍁
Notes: Canadians are changing their buying habits at the grocery store in disgust to recent news. However, the most important conversation happening in Canada right now is how to reduce internal trade barriers. Provincial regulations on goods are not uniform across Canada causing inefficiency in intra-provincial trade. The differences surprisingly capture more than just alcohol and cigarette trade barriers.
